Whenever I’m online, I imagine I’m in a random place?

Question by Liney: Whenever I’m online, I imagine I’m in a random place?

This is when it can happen (not limited to):
AIM conversations (this is when it mainly happens)
watching YouTube videos
Researching information for school
Talking to someone over Facebook chat

I am 15 years old and a girl. This has happened since I can remember… I just never thought it was weird until now… I kind of realize that this is abnormal.

What happens is that I will be talking on AIM or whatever and I will be imagining I am in a certain place. I have always visited this place before in my life. It is random places… for example, my elementary school campus or my church narthex/lobby. The place has nothing to do with anything we are talking about in the chat. I’m not imagining myself walking around this place… its just a still image of it, in color. The view is a random view from inside the room or wherever. It is my perspective. (As I would see out of my eyes, not a bird’s eye view or anything)

I have told my mom about this. She said “tell me when it happens”. I kept trying to tell her when it happens, but I never realize it when it’s happening. Think about it like a dream. When I’m in the conversation, I know where I am but I don’t fully understand it yet and I can’t recognize it until later. Later I will be like “Oh, when I was talking to Katie on AIM last night, I was at the grocery store!” Of course i wasn’t actually, there… but it felt like it! This is like a dream because when you are sleeping, you know the dream that’s going on, but you can’t tell anyone all about the dream or fully understand the dream until you wake up and think about it the next day.

It happens a lot when I am relaxed or kind of tired… not when I’m hyper or anything.

Here are some tips:
I have mild Synesthesia. (This means I associate certain colors with things like letters and numbers.)
I have more Deja Vu’s than your average person.
I’m left-handed (I don’t know if this is relevant)

Can someone tell me what I have?

I’m left-handed too, and that sometimes happen to me. I don’t think its abnormal or anything to do with whether you’re left-handed or not, I think its just that you have a vivid imagination.

Things like that happen to people, so its quite normal :)

Maybe you just liked those places so you like to go there so you feel more comforable or relaxed. It may be a Deja Vu.
