Question by Contemplative: Tire guy said my tires “don’t match.” Is that important or not?
I always go to Firestone or Tire’s Plus and they decide what to put on, so if they don’t match it’s the tire guy’s call. I don’t know why this is impt, can you explain? tia

I have a 94 sedan. I don’t know if he means they don’t match brand-wise or what.
Are Tiger Paws best? My Goodyear and my Firestones both had sidewall blow outs.

the size of the tires are very important so they need to match. the tread isn’t so important. its not nessicary for the tread but it may rumble or roar but the size is a must. This is only to get you by in a pinch. but if you are replacing just 2 tires just make sure the 2 front match and the 2 rear match. and but the newer tires on your drive axle.

VERY important on the drive axle, cause if the size is different, the smaller gears in the differential will always spin cause the left tire and right tire are a different circumference and not spinning at the same speed. You can cause major rear end(rear drive vahicle), or transaxle (front drive)damage. as long as each axle(front or rear)have the same size your good, but they do not all 4 have to be the same
Different size tires on the right and left side of your drive axel will cause the differential to work overtime and cause premature failure. On the front of your vehicle it will also cause alignment problems. Both tires on the front of the vehicle should always be the same to avoid alignment problems and premature tire wear. Different size tires on the rear of your car will cause the tires to wear unevenly resulting in in early failure, and any guarantee on the tires will be void. Same void on the front of the car.
