Q&A: I’ve been in a serious car accident.?

Question by ღ❤Crystal❤ღ: I’ve been in a serious car accident.?

I have actually been very fortunate. And, it could have been worse. My fiance was driving, I was in the passenger side. Our three children were in the back. And they are all under the age of 4. I had just taken off my seatbelt so I could tend to my 9 month old daughter. And, a truck suddenly stopped in front of us. My fiance had glanced at me, because I had asked him a question, I couldn’t find our bottle. And, we decided to avoid the truck. We were going 55 mph, which is why he hadn’t thought of the truck suddenly stopping. Most drivers at least give you a sign.

Anywho, I was flown to Vanderbilt hospital via helicopter., a big Hospital in Tennessee. If you don’t know…. And that was the second hospital I was in that day. I had cracked the back of my neck, bottom of my head. I’m not 100% sure. I don’t know what all was the deal. I was uncontious for 3 days, and it’s all been told to me. I keep forgetting things a lot. I’m getting better. And, I do remember bits and pieces after the wreck, very little, I must say.

My left hand was really bad. I kept telling my fiance it was “sleeping, or lazy, tired” apparently, which I do not remember any of this. And, also I was told I was picking my nose and wiping it on the side of our furniture???? I really don’t remember that, and it’s not a habit I make. I guess I just did it.

Could all this be from the wreck? Like the whole childlike image I had. To me, it seems like something a child would do. Will my memory continue to slack? I have always had an excellent memory, and I forgot many things. My birthday being next week, what I had ordered for dinner, etc.

I must say, I am very fortunate, and I am glad that I was the only one who was hurt. My family and fiance thought that I would be a Vegetable, at the hospital. He was crying, and for many, people who know him, would not believe that. He’s an overall heartless person, until it comes to me, our kids, his family… He had to take care of me for a week, he didn’t want me to go to anyone else, which his mother was shocked, because he would send his ex wife off if she was sick, to his mothers. But he didn’t really love her, he just wanted to work for the kids sake. We just have that emotion, he’s right for me. And, I believe everyone really understood when this happened, so I’m glad they do see it. On the other hand, I just told you a bunch of stuff that doesn’t matter, and I just realized that.

What I’m asking is, will my memory remain this way, or go back to normal? I feel like I’ve gotten “Slower” Which, I have to admit, I would rather that happen, then what could have happened.
Thank you! :) I guess I was hoping that someone had a similar incident, or retired doctor. I won’t be going to the doctor for about a couple weeks. Which I’m pretty impatient, so that’s why I asked. lol. Thank you for your kind words!
Answer #2, that’s exactly what I wanted to know!! :) Yes, I know, that’s why I say I’m very fortunate, we all are. It could have been worse, and I am by far blessed. :)

I am so Sorry to hear about that. I think it is because of the wreck. The next time you go to the doctor tell him about it and he can help you better than I can. Nobody on here is going to have the right answer because we are not doctors.
Hope It gets better!

How to Remove the bike tire or at least half of it ?

The tire is easier to remove if you release any remaining air from the tube. You release the air from the tube through the valve. There are two main types of valves:

Presta valve: A Presta valve is thin and all metal. Many road bikes use Presta valves, which can handle greater pressure and leak less than Schrader valves.
Schrader valve: The Schrader valve is fat, like what you’d see on a car tire. Schrader valves are easier to pump up than Presta valves; you can fill them up at a gas station.

Some bike pumps are designed for either Presta or Schrader valves while some are reversible and work with both. If you aren’t sure what you need, ask for help in your local bike shop.

If you’re putting air in a tire at a gas station, be careful not to overfill it — the tire could explode.

If you have a Presta valve, unscrew and press down on the tip of the valve. If you have a Schrader valve, insert the tip of a tire lever into the center of the valve while squeezing the tire to allow air to escape.

Then, using the tire levers, try to lift one side of the tire off the rim while leaving the other side in place. Here’s how:

Pinch the tire all the way around the rim to move the edge (or bead) of the tire away from the rim.
Slide the flat end of the first tire lever between the rim and the bead of the tire under it. Make sure to use tire levers, not flathead screwdrivers — screwdrivers have sharp edges that can puncture the tire. In a pinch, the handles of silverware can work.
Pull the lever down so that the bead rises up and over the rim.
Hook the bottom of the lever to a spoke to keep it in place. Some tires are very tight and you’ll need extra room, so don’t hook the first tire lever to the spoke until you get the second lever slid under the tire.
A few inches away, repeat steps 2 and 3 with the second tire lever.
Repeat steps 2 and 3 with the third lever, but instead of hooking the lever to a spoke, start dragging the lever around the wheel away from the first and second levers. You should notice the tire becoming looser until the entire side pops off the rim.
Before removing the inner tube from the wheel, pump it up with a little extra air. Later, when you have to look for the puncture, you’ll need some air in the tube and it’s easier to pump up the tube while it is still on the wheel.
While the tire is still on the rim, reach under it and pull out the tube.
When you reach the valve, lift up the tire and pull the valve through the rim, being careful not to damage it.

Note the position of the tube in relation to the tire so when you find the hole in the tube it will be easier to locate the cause (glass, a nail, a thorn), if it’s still embedded in the tire.

One Response to “Q&A: I’ve been in a serious car accident.?”

  1. Peaceful friend says:

A relative of mine was involved in an accident more then a year ago. Last May she started to realize that she was “slower” then normal, and very forgetful. After several doctors and different trial and errors she finally was told that she is “slower” then before. She just takes longer to process information, and has bad days. (If she is lacking sleep, or over does it)

Is it going to last forever? No one can tell her or you that but when she slows down she speeds up. In other words instead of cooking supper and doing laundry she just cooks supper. Instead of talking on the phone and doing dishes she just does dishes. She stays focused on one task and that does make it easier.

I know it’s tough and frustrating, but think of how lucky your children are to have a mom that “forgets” things rather then not have their mom!

    Good luck!
