Q&A: Fidelity Warranty Services Automobile Platinum Warranty ISSUES!?

Question by Amanda: Fidelity Warranty Services Automobile Platinum Warranty ISSUES!?

I purchased a used car in February. It already had 60k miles on it so the salesperson told us we could purchase an extended warranty and with the best coverage (platinum) we would be protected and covered for brakes, tires- the whole 9 yards (as listed in the pamphlet). The car ran great at first but now gradually like anything else we are having lots of issues. I took my car to a garage to have it checked over and I now need an engine belt, two tires, brakes and roters all around and a front end alignment. The auto shop called Fidelity and was denied approval because it is “routine maintenance”. It just seems so crazy that I spent over $ 2k on a warranty that I was told would cover EVERYTHING. I know its our fault for not reading the fine print and now too much time has gone by and we can’t “return” the warranty- so I was wondering if anyone has dealt with Fiedelity and has any suggestions. The garage said we should try calling Fidelity and fighting with them about it.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in Advance! :]
I bought the car in February and I’ve put less than 11,000 miles on the car to date.
Is there anything I can do? i.e. sell back the remainder of the warranty?

I used to have them too… don’t worry you arent the first to go throught this lol

yes you should call and fight with them, but wont you will NOT win on no matter what is the tires, and brake pads. rotors are mileage based from when you buy the plan. the serpentine belt might be hard to win, but you have a chance.

Just start being annoying but respectful and polite, its about all you can do.

i hate these warranty companies, im a service manager and deal with them all the time, the guy that sold you the plan got a spiff for selling it and he/she lied to you, they never cover wearable items and you will not win this, and be advised they will and always do record all phone calls

This is exactly why I advise car owners to get FACTORY BUMPER-TO-BUMPER warranties, not 3rd parties like “Fidelity.”

I’d sue em in Small Claims. Call some lawyers, tell em what happend. In the course of the convo, ask em about small claims. Depending on your state, your small claims court may have good advice about the suit process: a pamphlet or website info. I’ve had great success w/ em.

Also call state dept of insurance, and consumer protection, and atty gen’s office.

The GOOD news is you put 11k on it and this routine work is all you need. Could be much worse.

And have the name-brand dealer do the work, ie, Ford vehicle to Ford dealer. Using N00bL00b joints is a false economy.
