You have decided to take an offroad trip with your not so rugged 4×4 double cab bakkie. Unfortunately your bakkie does not have the space for all the amenities that you want to take along. You have a regular trailer but you are unsure that the tires on it will be able to handle the terrain you’ll be tacking, and and offroad tires are definitely not going to fit the bill. What now? No need to panic as there is a solution that will take care of all your storage space problems as well as leave you with additional space to bring along a few extras. The offroad trailer is the perfect solution to you problems. As well as being rust proof, it has a rugged design that is built for the toughest terrains. Built from the toughest materials so as to withstand the sweltering or brave the bitter cold, you simply can’t go wrong. This type of trailer is your best bet when it comes to your off-road needs.
The offroad trailer with its rugged and aerodynamic design offers no resistance on your journey. It also offers features such as two Jerry can holders, spare wheel, and a roof rack which is ideal for accommodating extras such as your mountain bicycle. Other features include a removable jockey wheel, toolbox, stow away table bracket and room for an 80litre fridge. It also features a slide out tray which is an optional extra, two large hatch doors which include a spanner and an emergency triangle. With all these features and many more on other offroad trailers it is hard not to be impressed by it. Trailers like these are however pricey and can set you back quite a bit so make sure that your budget allows for this great investment.
Most trailer dealerships might also offer you a rental possibility. It might be a good idea to look into this before buying your own offroad trailer as this could help you make a well informed decision. If you decide to purchase an off-road trailer it might be worth your while to look at a second hand trailer. Do however bare in mind that second hand offroad trailers could have been used quite often therefore you will have to perform a thorough inspection before making a decision on whether to buy it or not. Following are a few things you should keep an eye out for when inspecting the trailer. Look for any rust marks, check the door hinges and latches too for signs of wear and tear, ask to see the spare tire and make sure that is in good working condition. You should never part with your money when it comes to a second hand trailer unless you are absolutely satisfied with its condition.
There are a number of dealers where you can go to purchase an offroad trailer. If you are in the market for a second hand trailer the easiest way is to go online thus making it easier to narrow down your choices. There is also a wider variety to choose from. It is the missing element to any offroad adventure.

Do they Make Studded Snow Tires For Sears Riding Lawn Tractors?
I have a 18 HP 42inch Sears riding lawn tractor. I bought the snow plow, tire weights and chains for the tires. Problem is I still get stuck all the time. The chains are constantly falling off. I have tried everything from using nylon fishing line to 10 gauge wire tying the two ends of the chain together. The hook that comes with it just doesn’t work well. Do they make tires for this tractor with steel studs in them, like snow tires use to be in the 60′s and 70′s, before they were taken off the market. if so, where can I buy them?
Answer
The tread on your mower tire probably isn’t deep enough for a stud, but if it is you can take the tire to a tire shop and have it drilled and studded. Of course, if studs are illegal in your area, you may have trouble finding a shop that has the equipment. In your application, the chains are much better since studs are really designed for ice. If you are on a quarter of an inch of loose snow the studs do very little for your traction. You probably would be much better off to find a solution for your sloppy chains.
Edit: it’s possible the hook on the chains won’t work well is because you cannot get the chains tight enough. Suggestion, you, or a tire shop can cut the chains down and/or deflate the tire a bit, put the chain on and re-inflate the tire, causing the chain to fit very tight.
