SAT’s Around The Corner
On November 1rst high school students from across America will take the Sat’s(Scholastic Assessment Test), because colleges require them to. For students from Vermont they have the option to take them at test centers like Hazen Union in Hardwick or Peoples Academy in Morresville at eight o’clock to noon. This according to Hazen Union senior Zach Fred..
Many of these seniors are taking the SATS, because their college requires the students to take them. Fred said the college he is looking at (Suny ESF) requires a 1100. According to Fred, “ Getting a 1100, was not a big deal, but I did have troubles with some of the problems on the SAT’s.”
Although a lot of students tend to study a lot for the Sat’s Andrew Brown, 17, senior at Hazen Union, said, “ I did not study as much as I could, because there is such a broad range to pick from and with playing sports and homework it was hard to fit in.” Brown also said he received Sat questions through email, which he found helpful to prepare him.
Many seniors retake the Sat’s to improve their score, since they have a good idea of what is on there after them a first time. According to Fred, “ I did good on the first SAT I took, but since I knew what to study for the second SAT all my scores increased.”
Many of the students before they take the SAT’s wonder why they should take the SAT’s?
According to Brown, “ I learned that the Sat’s help you present a more personalized portfolio that clarifies how well you would fit at a particular school.” Brown also said that through the sats a couple of the colleges have become more clear to him about where he wants to go.
While taking the SAT’s it’s not unusual for students to loose focus or become tired. Brown said, “When I was taking my first SAT test I lost focus on some of the math problems. It wasn’t until the breaks that I was able to regain focus and start up again.” Fred said that he became tired during the SAT’s, but that students should get a good nights sleep before the SAT’s and eat a good breakfast it helped him.
