Can you still negotiate for tires at a discount tire chain?
I am going to get new tires at a chain like Discount Tire or Tire America and wanted to ask – Can I negotiate or do I just pay the price quoted?
Answer
The prices are in the computer, so there’s not much to negotiate.
HOWEVER, they do have coupons they can throw in.
Just the other day I had to go to a WheelWorks to get 2 new tires for my Olds (yes, I drive an Olds). I was told that my factory OEM Michelins are no longer made. The guy then offered me a MUCH better tire… Falken ZE-512′s for about the same price. I told him I’d think about it… And he offered me a $20 coupon if I make up my mind. Sold! Even WITH installation and balancing and rotation it’s under $200 for both tires.
