Portable Air Compressor and Battery Charger

Going to an auto repair shop to get your car fixed or upgraded for the first time in Tampa can get a little intimidating. With so much on the services menu, getting overwhelmed is but a normal response especially if you have no knowledge about car repair. There are two major categories of auto repair and upgrade services:

Tune-Up

Your car should receive a tune-up (often referred to as a “major service”) every two years or 30,000 miles, whichever comes first. During this tune-up, your car will receive some new parts that will hopefully keep it out of the shop for a while. A tune up covers changing the spark plug and other faulty wirings in your car.  Tune ups also include replacement and cleaning of filter fuel, especially if it’s clogged. Then there are battery replacement, PVC repair, clutch and valve adjustment, tire and rims alignment, and fluid checks. This is basically a general check up for the car.

Tires, wheels, and rim alignment and replacement are the most commonly availed services because this is the external part of the car that gets the most abuse. The wear and stress on the wheels causes misalignment which also results to a more difficult driving and steering experience. When you’re car keeps pulling to the side, that’s a sign for the need to align your tires and wheels. Having your wheels fixed gives you (1) reduced tire wear, meaning your tires get even distribution of work and stress; (2) Better gas mileage with reduced resistance while driving; (3) Improved car handling, and of course; (4) Safe driving. According to Unique Auto Sport of Tampa, as a general rule, have your vehicle’s tires checked every 10,000 miles or at least once a year.

This category also covers repair or installation of your car audio and navigation system. Shops can rewire your car audio system to new media software, or add new hardware such as speakers. They can also rewire your car for a new portable GPS Navigation system for more efficient driving. The charge for this service varies per auto shop in Tampa so you can check out their costing first if you’re on a budget.

Auto Body Kit Repair and Upgrades

These services are often availed when you’re going for a customized and polished look for your car. For example, new cars need to get at least window tinting before anything else. Window tinting is available in almost all auto repair shops in Tampa so it shouldn’t be a problem.

Body kit repairs and upgrades generally have to do customizing with auto parts such as the hood, lights, grills, interior accessories, the body kit itself, paint job, rims, and electronics. When in need of a car aesthetic upgrade, these are the services you can look at. Body kit works are delicate and yes, more expensive services. Scratches and bumps are the most common body kit problems so this is where the shop addresses those fender benders.

Installation of “pimped-out” parts like subs, grills, leather interiors, and several car video screens is also an important aspect of this category. There’s nothing like a personalize vehicles that shows your personality. However, as already mentioned, be ready to be set back a few thousand dollars for these custom-type services.

Reasonable and affordable auto body kit services are available at Unique Auto Sport in Tampa. They provide the best services on custom part installation and tune ups around Tampa.

Having the proper spare parts is not always very convenient, but there are some items that your car should not do without. How many times didn’t you need, for example, an air compressor to inflate a flat tire?

Or how many times you were in a hurry and you forgot your car’s headlights on and when you returned to your car you noticed that your battery is dead? Let’s face it, problems like these can happen to anybody, but fortunately, solving them is fairly easy. All you need is a portable air compressor and a portable battery charger.

While some thirty years ago battery chargers were large devices that required an always-on power supply, you can find nowadays portable battery chargers the size of a small suitcase.

It is a very convenient way to help your dead battery start you car if you ever need to. All you have to do is to power on the device, attach the clams to your car’s battery and voila, you can now start your engine.

Do not worry if you do not posses a lot of technical knowledge. The portable battery chargers you can buy in any specialized auto parts shop or in large supermarkets include all the necessary equipment (the long cables to connect the device to your car) and all the necessary instructions.

The battery charger’s manufacturer includes a very detailed, graphical representation of all the steps you need to do in order to start the battery charger, connect it to your car’s battery and charge it.

The prices for a very efficient battery charger are not scary, as a fairly good one will cost around 0 or even less, depending on its power and included features. Because a battery charger is very compact, you can find a place for it in the trunk of any car.

So why risk being stranded in a foreign city asking for help from strangers, when you can always have a battery charger at your disposal?

Another important item you should always carry with you is a portable air compressor. A portable air compressor is able to inflate a tire from zero in under two minutes and it does wonders if you ever need to inflate one or more of your car tires.

It is not mandatory to have a flat to need such a portable air compressor. Traveling for many hours at a row without stopping can heat your tires very much and if the rubber in your tire is old or worn out, it may start to loose air.

Driving with a flat tire is very dangerous, as you will loose braking capabilities as well overall car stability and handling. You will notice that one of your tires is running low on air if the car does not have a straight trajectory. These things can happen to anyone, anywhere. In addition, if you happen to get a flat tire in the middle of a country road and you do not have a spare with you, you are stranded until someone with an air compressor comes to your rescue.

Portable air compressors are very cheap (you can even buy one for less than if you look in the right place) and they are very compact (most of them are the size of a bread) so keeping one in your trunk is no big deal.
