Question by Mhm: Changing your back tires?
When changing a car tire say my rear tires, if I change only one would I have to change the other? I heard from some people you do to keep both wheels “balanced” so that the other wheel won’t mess up but I don’t know if it’s true or not. Does anyone know if I’d have to switch out both tires or just one is fine? It’s a rear-wheel drive car if that information matters.

no you only need to do the one it will make no difference to the other wheel at all as the wheel will be balanced before they put it on.anyone that says you need to do both is a complete retard and doesn’t know what the hell they are on about

you have to be ready with good tires. don’t worry about what others say. you are responsible for your own safety and the others on the road. when it is time to brake in an emergency. you can be sure your tires will do the job. happy motoring.
it is best for handling and ride to have tires that match . what I would do is change both and keep the good one in case you ever get a flat you won’t have to run right out and buy a tire.
Just change the tire that’s bad, and you’ll be fine. Wheel balancing only has to do with balancing the tire with the rim so it doesn’t bounce around on the axle and shake the car. Only issue you might have to deal with, is that if you apply your emergency brakes and one rear tire has better tread than the other, you might pull towards one side.
I think you’ve heard someone talking about diesel truck tandem tires. when replacing one tire on them you need to replace both on that axle. as far as your car goes, it doesn’t matter, just try to stay with the same tire size as the other side.
all you have to do is replace the 1 bad tire. you don,t have to get both of them if the other1 is still good.
